Beautiful condition 15 Jewel Waltham pocket watch with serial number 8297988. The serial number indicates the movement was made in 1897 for export (to GB). The solid 9ct gold case was made by Aaron Lufkin Dennison (ALD), or more commonly known as the Dennison Watch Case Co (after 1906). The case has both the ALD and the Dennison Watch Case Co stamps. All the case components share the same maker stamp and serial number, so this is a totally original watch. Hallmarked Birmingham 1913.
The face and crystal are in perfect condition. The case body has no dents but does have minor surface hairline marks. The back of the case has been opened minimally, as this takes a specialist case knife to open and leaves marks on the soft gold tangs. The more it is opened, the more damage is sustained, so this case wasn't often opened. Roman numerals on both the face and case. It has a Breguet hairspring and winds and runs perfectly.
I have owned several Waltham pocket watches over the years, and this is the best example I have seen to date. The age, internal & external condition, and all original components makes this watch a very good investment.
50mm diameter, 14mm thick, 68mm high including crown and bow, weight 99 grams.
